My Journey

My journey to the field of public relations actually started with a passion for journalism. In high school, I was heavily involved with our school newspaper. I worked my way up to News Editor and during my senior year I started a student-run broadcast. I found a passion for scriptwriting, producing, videography, etc. I always loved public speaking and leadership which prompted me to run and be elected as Senior Class President.

Into the college world I went still having goals of becoming the next Erin Andrews or Taryn Hatcher. I began my undergraduate journey as a journalism major where I fell in love with broadcasting. I loved the anchoring aspect, but the behind-the-scenes action of writing and producing is what intrigued me the most. Ultimately, I found myself wanting to explore the communications field and transition into a more traditional but also more personable field: public relations.

I switched from a major in journalism to PR and instead added journalism & media as a minor along with business administration.

Now, here I am! In my final stretch of undergrad constantly looking for new opportunities to meet new people and further my experience in the field.

I have been graciously able to attend several networking trips with the Tombras School of Advertising and Public Relations in my time with the school. I have been able to travel to Memphis, Nashville, New York City, and Seattle for several conferences and alumni receptions, including the PRSSA ICON 2023 Convention. Through these opportunities, I have been able to connect with numerous members of PRSA. This January (2024), I was honorably recognized as Student Communicator of the Year by the local, Knoxville PRSA chapter. This March (2024), I had the honor of attending the Leadership Assembly in Seattle, Washington.

My current goal is to hold an internship at a PR agency to expand my skillset in a corporate setting. My specific interests are music and entertainment, but I also love policy, sports, etc. The true beauty of PR!
